Designed to support an unattended funeral, known as a Direct Cremation, this personalised service allows you to reflect and watch your loved one’s final journey at your own pace.
Just like an attended service, the Virtual Memorial Service can give closure to those left behind, offering another way to say goodbye.

What's included
Take a moment to reflect as your loved one takes their final journey through the beautiful grounds of our crematorium and into the chapel, where you will see the final committal take place. This personalised virtual tribute ensures a meaningful and lasting commemoration of your loved one’s life.
A chosen music piece as the coffin enters our chapel, a single photograph and a poetry reading from our library are included. We can also add an optional visual ‘slide show’ tribute as a way to pay homage to their life story.
Choose a poem that reflects your loved one from our ten pre-recorded options. Your chosen poem will be recited during the Virtual Memorial Service.
How you will receive the virtual memorial service
Our Media supplier, Obitus, carefully creates your bespoke Virtual Memorial Service.
Within three working days of the unattended service, the Virtual Memorial Service will be ready to download through a secure, unique link sent to your email of choice. You can then download and watch the Virtual Memorial Service in your own time and setting.

It’s only natural that you may want to treasure the memory of the service and we make this easy with our elegantly presented Keepsakes.
Your Keepsake can include an edited video of the Virtual Memorial Service either on DVD, USB, Video Book or within a Memory Box with printed personal photos to accompany the footage. Speak to your funeral arranger or visit our Keepsakes page to see the options.
Frequently asked questions
A Virtual Memorial Service is a personalised film that includes footage of the arrival, committal and closing of the curtain, tastefully edited to include personal photos, music and poetry.
This downloadable media allows families and friends to see their loved one’s last journey and watch it again in their own time.
The Music Tribute add-on gives you the ability to include up to 25 photos of your loved one carefully timed to a music track of your choice, alongside a separate music track at the beginning of the Virtual Memorial. See the top of this webpage to view an example.
Virtual Memorial Services are available as an addition to direct cremation services. Please speak with your funeral arranger to confirm which option you want to book, and they will guide you through the process.
As our teams carefully edit the footage and chosen media, this usually takes around three working days after the direct cremation to complete. It’s then sent through a secure link to an email address of your choice for you to download.
For additional Keepsake options, delivery will take a further 14 days before they can be collected from the Crematorium.
The Committal is the rite of passage that honours the physical parting of a deceased person by either burial or cremation. In this case, it means that you are ‘committing’ the body to be cremated.
Please bear in mind that chapel attendants may not be in full formal uniform but will be respectfully attired, and a wheeled bier will be used to carry your loved one into the chapel.
Virtual Memorial Services is a new offering, so we currently have ten classic poetry recitals to choose from. The poems have been selected carefully to give families a balanced collection of poignant and thoughtful prose options for the commemoration of their loved ones.
