Chilterns and Bierton Crematorium are proud to participate in the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management’s (ICCM) Metal Recycling Scheme. This scheme offers families the opportunity to give consent for the recycling of metals resulting from cremation, including those used in orthopaedic implants such as hip and knee replacements, as well as in the construction of coffins.
Since its inception, the scheme has raised over £19 million for charities. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the bereaved families who consent to the recycling of these metals.
This year, our participation in the scheme raised an incredible £12,500. Chilterns and Bierton Crematorium are pleased to donate £6,250 to Little Lifts.
About Little Lifts
Little Lifts is a charity that provides the most thoughtfully handpicked gift Boxes to people affected by breast cancer. In the East of England, they work directly with NHS hospitals to provide free Little Lifts gift Boxes to patients during their treatment planning or review meetings.
Every year, approximately 55,000 women and 400 men are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK. Around 61,000 women live with secondary (incurable) breast cancer in the UK.
Kay Phoenix – Finance and Business Support Manager from Little Lifts had these words to share:
‘We can’t thank Chilterns and Bierton Crematoria enough for nominating Little Lifts to receive £6,250 from the ICCM Metal Recycling Scheme. We are on a mission to provide free Little Lifts gift Boxes to every breast cancer patient in the UK. Little Lifts Boxes contain specially chosen products to relieve the side effects of treatment and mood-boosting goodies to promote emotional well-being and help breast cancer patients feel supported and not alone. This generous donation will help us get one step closer to achieving our mission and will enable us to support many more people affected by breast cancer with a Little Lifts Box.
We really can’t thank Chilterns and Bierton Crematoria enough for nominating our small but mighty charity. Your support will help us provide Little Lifts Boxes to more people like Saba:
“I am utterly moved and grateful for the exquisite Little Lifts Box that I received during my breast cancer journey…This Box is not just a collection of items; it is a manifestation of compassion and understanding. In the midst of the physical and emotional toll that cancer treatment takes, your thoughtful gift has managed to uplift my spirits in a way words cannot fully express. It is, without a doubt, the most considerate and heartfelt gift I have ever received. In this Box, I found not just well-crafted essentials but a reservoir of hope, care, and the affirmation that I am not alone on this journey. Please accept my deepest gratitude for making a profound difference in my life during a time when it was needed the most.”‘
